A Shawl for Maems is a large and warm half -circle shawl knit in sport weight yarn on size 5 needles. The pattern motif includes a lovely central panel worked over a Japanese stitch pattern and airy side panels done in simple lace.

Gauge is based on a simple lace pattern used as part of the border of the shawl. Gauge is most important for yardage as 5 skeins are 1200 yards. I used 1160 yards without counting a gauge swatch.

The pattern is knit from charts. Stitch patterns are worked on both the right and wrong side but the charts make this easy to follow.
