June 23, 2025 -- A Sailor’s Wife Socks will be used by the Supersock World Championship for Lap 2 of its speed-knitting challenge. The pattern will be exclusive to the SWC group until September 2025.

A fun, feminine ruffle leads to pretty sails flying around the leg of Mrs. Anne Wentworth’s sock. The lacy sails are formed with slip-stitches and garter stitch.

At the very end of Persuasion, Anne and Frederick have their happy ending. Anne ” … gloried in being a sailor’s wife.”

I wanted to knit a more feminine sock for Anne to go with the HMS Laconia Socks that I designed for the SKA Literary Challenge in 2013 (Captain Wentworth’s socks). A Sailor’s Wife Socks were designed for the 2014 SKA Literary challenge.

Three sizes are charted for Small (Medium, and Large).
Yardage approx. 370 (390, 410)
This pattern has been test knit and professionally tech edited.
