#326 Aria Cowl
Finished Size: 11 ¼“ / 28.5 cm height x 26 ½” / 67.5 cm around.
A dramatically open lace stitch worked in the brushed alpaca yarn creates this gloriously airy cowl. The true beauty of the yarn is displayed in the rows where elongated stitches are crossed over each other.
The unique stitch pattern is written only and supported by videos on the SweaterBabe Blog demonstrating the special techniques involved. Triple yarnovers give the crossed stitches their extra height. Then, on the next row, basic cable twists (done without a cable needle, but could also be done like traditional cables with a cable needle) create the pretty crossed stitches and the resulting open areas between them.
The cowl is worked in rows, then seamed to form a circle. And only one ball of the brushed alpaca silk blend yarn was needed for this project, making it a great gift knit and stash buster.
GAUGE: Approx 17 sts = 4” / 10 cm and 16 rows = 5” / 12.5 cm in lace patt
