TECHNIQUES USED IN THIS PATTERN
Links to videos for selected techniques are included. I look for videos as close as possible to the instructions I have written. Sometimes they may be slightly different but still very helpful.

  • Cast-on
  • 1 x 1 ribbing
  • Bind-off
  • Pick-up and knit stitches
  • Yarn over (yo)
  • Stranded knitting
  • Duplicate stitch
  • Simple buttonhole
  • I-cord

Regardless of their age babies and children’s actual body measurements vary. It is helpful to use the FINISHED GARMENT MEASUREMENTS, from the chart, which refers to this specific garment only. It can help you choose the fit you prefer.

YARN USED FOR SAMPLE

  • Sandnes Garn — Lanett
  • 100% superwash merino wool
  • 1.75 ounces-(50 grams )
  • 214 yards-(196 cm) each ball
  • 2(2 – 3 - 3) balls Main Color (MC)
  • 1 ball Contrasting Color A (CC A)—gray
  • 1 ball Contrasting Color B (CC B)—black

For your cardigan to be the correct size, it is not the brand of yarn that matters, but the GAUGE that is important. It is best to refer to the yardage to determine how many skeins or balls to purchase.
