For my 2015 tribute to BSG, we are honoring Dr. Giaus Baltar. Baltar was delightfully naive and hopelessly lost in the clutches of his sometimes real/sometimes imaginary Caprica Six. He had triumphs; he made mistakes. Most of all, he was torn between two worlds: the Humans and the Cylons. Giaus never knew where he fit in. He wanted to lead, but was terrible at it. He never wanted to betray humanity, but at the same time, he loved the idea that he might be at least part Cylon. He created the only existing device that could differentiate Humans from Cylons, but in the end he only pretended to use it. He was a brilliant scientist and an idiot all at the same time.

For this square, I wanted to focus on the dual nature that makes Baltar so interesting of a character. So I split the Colonial Fleet’s insignia and the Cylon Emblem down the middle and superimposed them together in a way that only Giaus would.
