This is a crochet pattern for a circle cowl.
You can make it as wide as you like, as the cowl is crocheted in the round, just stop when you think it is wide enough.

This pattern works up very quickly. The last photo shows the different ways you can wear your cowl.

You will need worsted weight yarn, and a large crochet hook.
