Pattern description from Vogue Knitting, Winter 2007/08: “Mari Lynn Patrick’s keyhole-front sleeveless dress, a confection of subtle ombre striping in the Fibre Company’s ‘Babe,’ is worked primarily in a bramble pattern. Inverted pleats shape the skirt, whose front features two columns of diamond cables placed atop vertical panels of reverse stockinette. The shoulder inset is worked separately and inserted.”
“Standard-fitting dress with bramble stitch panels and inverted pleats, cabled shoulder inset and center front opening. Sized for Small, Medium, Large and X-Large. Shown in size Small on page 76.”

Materials:
- 7 (8, 9, 10) 1¾oz/50g hanks (each approx 100yd/91m) of The Fibre Company Babe (alpaca/merino) in cream on top (A)
- 2 (3, 3, 3) hanks in pink babe (B), spring babe (D) and lemon (E)
- 5 (6, 6, 6) hanks in poppy (C)
- One pair each sizes 5 and 7 (3.75 and 4.5mm) needles or size to obtain gauge
- Size D/3 (3mm) crochet hook
- Three 1”/25mm buttons
- One ½“/13mm button
- One spool elastic thread
- Four size 10 sew on snaps by Dritz Co.
- Cable needle, safety pins
Additional Gauge: 22 sts and 24 rows = 4”/10cm over bramble st using larger needles
Note: The back skirt is worked with alternating bramble st and rev St st panels. Both front skirt pieces are worked in bramble st, rev St st and Diamond Chart 1, as shown in photo.
