When Mac was small, a family moved into the neighborhood and brought with them all things southern: hand made Christmas ornaments, hand smocked dresses, and a little girl with ribbons in her hair.
Molly would bolt out of her house each morning and run through the neighborhood yards all day, her dark hair and ribbons flying behind her. When she finally collapsed at the end of the day, her thumb went into her mouth, she would grab the tag at the back of her collar, and rub the silky cloth to comfort herself.
Molly’s mom confessed, if there was no tag in her garments when purchased, off they went to her grandmother in North Carolina and tags were added by hand. Hence the saying, “molly’s taggin’ it”. Directions for adding this extra bit of comfort to any garment are at the end of the pattern.
