Rebecca Graves
My name used to be Rebecca Sweinhagen and my design company was called S Type Creative. No one could pronounce either one and rarely spelled it correctly. I am so over all that. Now I go by Rebecca Graves. It’s a heck of a lot easier to spell and for those of us who read Hooked on Phonics style, a lot easier to sound out!
I’ve been knitting for what seems like a thousand years, but is probably closer to 15, and it is exceedingly rare the needles are far from my grasp. After all, how horrifying is it to be stuck on the country road with nowhere to go but sitting when the longest train in America is crossing the tracks ahead of you, your iPhone battery is almost dead and you don’t have knitting? Ack! Sounds like a nightmare I’d prefer to forget about.
Aside from knitting, crocheting, spinning, and weaving I have joined forces with reknowned (or is it infamous?) potter Steve Smith to collaborate on hand carved pottery done in the sgraffito technique. Currently, we’re working on unique designs for yarn bowls, needle pots, knitters mugs, fun tiles, and drop spindles all out of clay. I’m even doing a series of holiday ornaments in the shapes of sheep and llamas. I’ll post those as soon as they are ready.
In the meantime, knit your patookas off. It’ll be gratifying. I’m going to stop typing here and get back to finishing my fingerless mitts I need for kayaking in the autumn so the cold aluminum paddle doesn’t freeze my tender hands.
Get more fiber in your diet. KNIT EVERY DAY! Or do something yarny. You know you want to.
