Amy Twigger Holroyd
I am the designer behind ‘slow fashion’ knitwear label Keep & Share. Our passion is creating beautiful knitwear for both men and women using our hands, our quick wits and a roomful of ultra-basic machinery at our Herefordshire studio. We combine fresh designs, quality materials and our signature seamless construction techniques to create ‘best friend’ pieces that are sure to satisfy, season after season.
After completing my MA in European Fashion and Textile Design, I launched Keep & Share in 2004. I started out as a solo designer-maker but in 2006 began to employ additional machine knitters to increase production capacity. Since our launch Keep & Share has been featured in publications including Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire, Blueprint, Selvedge, Crafts, The Telegraph, The Observer, Fiberarts and New Consumer - and in 2006 we were listed as the number 1 E-Boutique in The Independent.
I seek to reverse the effects of throwaway fashion by creating ‘best friend’ pieces that will transcend short-lived trends and age gracefully. My design philosophy combines the familiar and the unconventional: archetypal details and fabric references are combined with loose, geometric shapes and unique seamless finishes. Inspired by the ‘story behind the product’, I wish to build strong emotional connections – between myself and my customers, and between my customers and their Keep & Share pieces.
While I mainly design and make using domestic knitting machines, I also design hand knit patterns and hand knit kits, which include balls of our very own recycled ‘Offcuts Yarn’.
