Suitable for knitters with a little sock experience. Slipped stitch colourwork experience not required.

The pattern offers sizes to fit young children to the largest of adults. Choose a size closet to your actual foot circumference.

Note that you need three colors of worsted weight yarn, no more than 100yds of each. These would be ideal for using up leftovers. Cascade 220 would be an excellent substitute.

It’s cold. Your feet are cold. These make excellent slippers for those Netflix-and-Chill sorts of evenings, on the couch in front of the TV.

The slipped stitch pattern is not only beautiful and fun to work, it’s also practical: it thickens the fabric for extra warmth, and so they are comfy and hard-wearing. The use of a non-machine washable yarn may seem odd for footwear, but it was a deliberate choice: these are designed to be worn over other socks, so they won’t need washing quite as often. And they will felt down slightly over time, too, for further insulation.
