I chose the colors for this shawl during the dark, grey days of winter. Don’t get me wrong, I like grey, not just day in and day out. If I can’t get a needed color fix looking out the window, I can get it in my knitting. This is my way to have happy spring colors to look at year round.
Wingpoint is a bias triangular shawl with a twist. The center spine results in a chevron shape at the end, reminiscent of the point seen on some butterfly wings. It begins at the tip and grows towards the bottom edge. A simple technique of holding 2 yarns together creates the marled triangles.
Materials
Yarn: 400 yards fingering weight yarn and (1) 5 color gradient set (100 yds each)

This pattern is a great way to use up leftover sock yarn!
Needles: One US 4/ 3.50 mm 29” circular or size to obtain gauge.
Gauge: 20 sts/ 40 rows = 4”/ 10cm in garter stitch after blocking.
While gauge is not critical for this project, I used up almost all of the main color (390 out of 400 yards)

Sample shown in one skein of Backyard Fiberworks Sock (100% super-wash merino, 400 yds/ 365m in 4oz/100g) and (1) 5 color gradient set (5 colors at 100 yds each) .
( I used approximately 70 yards of each of the gradient colors )
