Wilma
Last summer, I was lucky to meet and take a color class with Wilma Malcolmson, and this sweater is inspired by her and by the knitting traditions of Shetland.
The Wilma pullover combines a classic yoked sweater with chevrons. Its short, boxy shape and elbow-length sleeves update the fit. It wears equally well over a short-sleeved tee, a long-sleeved tee, or a collared shirt.
The sweater is worked seamlessly from the neck down, beginning with a garter stitch neckband. Short rows are worked to shape the neck, and then the yoke is worked, following either written directions or the chart.
The body and sleeves are separated and worked in the round, ending in ribbing.
The finished chest measurements are 36 (39, 41, 43.75, 46.5, 48.5)“, so it fits a wide range of sizes depending on how much ease is chosen. The sample shown is XS worn with about 4” of ease.
