Floral themed lace patterns drape over the shoulders in the subtly ruffled Wild Flowers shawl. With three main lace stitches and rows of eyelets in-between, the pattern will keep your interest piqued and you will always be looking forward to the next field of flowers.

The flattering “U” (or crescent) shape of the shawl helps keep the shawl comfortably on the shoulders - no matter how much frolicking in the meadow you do.

How to wear this shawl
The shawl’s shape and size make it ideal for being worn in multiple ways. Drape the straight edges over the shoulders, keeping the rounded edge in the back for the traditional look of a rectangular shawl. Or, place the rounded edge of the shawl over one shoulder and wrap the straight sides over the opposite shoulder for a capelet look. The piece can also be worn like a scarf.

Construction Details
The shawl is worked from the inner edge toward the outer edge with a tidy slip-stitch edging. As the shawl is worked, the number of stitches for each side remains fixed while the center back expands in a semi-circle to hug the body. The increases are worked into the garter eyelet ridges so the more detailed lace sections maintain their stitch counts while you knit.

Techniques Necessary

• Cast on and bind off

• Decreases (SSK and K2tog)

• Knitting through the back loop

Finished measurements: top/interior width 52”; bottom/outer width 92”; depth 17.5”

Yarn: 850 yards of Fingering (CYCA #1).
Yarn used in sample is Manos del Uruguay Fino, 70% Merino Wool, 30% silk, 490 yards/100grams, 2 skeins of #413 – Rosewater.

Gauges:
24 stitches and 32 rows = 4” in stockinette stitch before blocking
20 stitches and 30 rows = 4” in stockinette stitch after blocking
24 stitches and 34 rows = 4” in pattern F before blocking
21 stitches and 32 rows = 4” in pattern F after blocking

Needles: US 5 (3.75 mm) circular knitting needle 40” length. Adjust needle size as necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
