Willow trees are not only graceful, they offer safe refuge for many creatures, such as birds, butterflies, and viceroy. The stitch pattern in the Whispering Willow shawl represents creatures flying to the Willow tree for safety from predators.
This shawl doubles beautifully as a scarf in cooler months.

Pattern Details

• knit from bottom up; back and forth
• no chart reading required
• all rows are written with stitch count provided
• short rows are used in pattern; however without wrapped stitches. So if you have been scared off with short rows because of “wraps and turns,” this pattern is for you
• short rows are achieved using either knit or purl 2 sts together
• matching Whispering Willow Headband also available

• 4 MJ yarns Kuan Yin (180yds/165m) colors: pearl and azurite - 2 skeins of each
• 525 yds (480m) total yardage

Needles and Gauge

• needles: 5.5mm (US 9) 32” circular
• circular needles are used to accommodate large number of stitches; shawl is knit back and forth
• gauge: 20 sts x 24 sts = 4” (10cm)

• adventurous beginner - intermediate knitter
• some knowledge with cables is helpful; however, the cable band section is not complicated
