The Wayfarer shawl is knit by making two smaller shawls and then lacing them together for the ultimate in “cobbled together from the wreckage of civilization” chic. The lace detail in the edge, which is created by working yarn-overs on both the right and wrong side of the work, contrasts with the corset-like leather lacing- part “before-times” finery, part après-le-deluge grit.
