The Waves of Change Beanie is worked from the bottom up and features a folded brim with a Fair Isle wave pattern. After the brim is folded and attached, one short row is worked to knit in the opposite direction. This allows the stockinette pattern to show on the right side once the brim is folded, and makes the bottom of the hat 3 layers thick. The crown is shaped with decreases and ends are woven in. This project is perfect for any knitter who knows the basics and is looking for a fun and easy Fair Isle project.

Note: If fuzzy yarn isn’t your thing, you can use 2 strands of fingering weight or one strand of DK weight yarn. Remember to knit a swatch and check your gauge.

Materials:

• MC: 175 (190) yards fingering weight yarn (I used Drops Flora in Off White) held together with 175 (190) yards fuzzy alpaca yarn (I used Drops Brushed Alpaca Silk in Light Beige) * keep in mind this fuzzy alpaca yarn is not very different than a traditional lace weight mohair - be sure to check your gauge OR 175 (190) yards DK weight yarn
• CC: 75 (100) yards fingering weight yarn (I used Drops Flora in Indigo) held together with 75 (100) yards fuzzy alpaca yarn (I used Drops Brushed Alpaca Silk in Cobalt Blue) * keep in mind this fuzzy alpaca yarn is not very different than a traditional lace weight mohair - be sure to check your gauge OR 75 (100) yards DK weight yarn
• Size 5 (3.75mm) 16” (40cm) circular needles and double pointed needles, or long circular needle for magic loop
• Stitch markers
• Tapestry needle
