Glistening blue waters, golden sunbeams layered across ancient architecture, a kaleidoscope of brightly coloured stained glass windows, this is the spirit of Venice. As you explore the Lagoon City and see blooming flower boxes adorning each balcony from your gondola, it’s easy to settle in to the relaxing atmosphere with a new interest piqued at every turn.

This visual feast and relaxing rhythm is mimicked in the Venezia shawl. A fingering weight triangle that is worked top-down dancing between different colours, easy lace, and meditative garter stitch. Relax, reminisce, and let your mind wander as you create your own masterpiece.

The pattern has full written instructions that include the lace. Charts are provided, there are stitch counts throughout, as well as a tick-sheet to track your progress.

Yarn
MC (variegated): 1 skein of Sally Ridgway Supreme Sock at 400m/437yd per 100g/3.5oz (my sample used 85g col. Stained Glass).
CC1 (darker solid): 1 skein of Sally Ridgway Supreme Sock at 400m/437yd per 100g/3.5oz (my sample used 85g col. Steel Blue).
CC2 (lighter solid): 1 skein of Sally Ridgway Supreme Sock at 400m/437yd per 100g/3.5oz (my sample used 62g col. Honey Gold).

Yarn substitution: Fingering weight (4ply) yarns with approx. 400m/437yd per 100g/3.5oz are best for similar results.

Needles & Notions
Pair of 3.75mm (US 5) needles. I like to use an 80cm/31.5” circular needle set but straight are fine also.
4 stitch markers. Tapestry needle.

Tension/Gauge
20 sts x 29 rows to 10cm (4”) on 3.75mm (US 5) needles over garter stitch pattern after blocking.

Finished Measurements
230cm (91”) wide along top edge x 80cm (31.5”) deep at centre (blocked).
