Want to try making your own socks? This vanilla sock pattern will help you on your way! Broken down into ‘pieces’ this pattern will help guide you on your way. A step by step approach to the anatomy of a sock, focusing on one piece of the puzzle at a time.
Knit top-down with a heel flap, this pattern is an easy way to start making socks for yourself and for others.
This pattern was initially designed to help teach others to knit their own socks using the magic loop method.

Sizing
To fit:
M - 20.5cm or 8” foot circumference
L - 21.5cm or 8.5” foot circumference
XL - 23cm or 9” foot circumference
Materials
Yarn: Fingering weight sock yarn (4 ply)
Approximate yardage: 274-366m or 300-400yds
Needle Size
2.5mm or US 2 circular knitting needles or size required to get the correct gauge
Gauge
16 stitches and 26 rounds to 5cm or 2” in stockinette
Skill Level
Advanced beginner - you will need to know how to knit, purl, decrease, work short rows work in the round and pick up stitches
