Unicorn Power! Who doesn’t need prancing unicorns skipping merrily around their wrists? That’s what I thought.

And, of course, unicorns need fancy borders because magical creatures deserve an entourage of some sort.

I’ve knit these up using two colours of beads, but you’re welcome to make things simpler and use one colour for the whole thing. However, if you’re brave enough to try the spicy two-colour version, the pattern handily gives you the bead counts for stringing with very little stress. As long as you count carefully during the stringing-on process, the knitting-with-beads itself actually becomes easier because the beads will tell you what comes next.

They’re really useful in air conditioned offices, they don’t get in the way when you’re typing or knitting, and they’re pretty enough to wear anywhere. I keep a pair in my purse for just in case.

To knit a pair, you’ll need about
20-30 grams of fingering-weight yarn and 20 grams each of two colours of size 8/0 glass seed beads.

Make sure you get high-quality Czech or Japanese beads; they’re more uniform, look better, and are easier to string onto the yarn.
