Triplet is a relaxed-fit short-sleeved sweater. There are three style options: two versions of a three-colour fade with colourwork bands worked at the colour change, using stranded colourwork or slip stitch colourwork, or a solid colour version with contrasting bands. Three-ways!
The sweater is knitted in two separate pieces – back and front – beginning with a variation on twisted rib for the lower band and increasing out for short sleeves.
Short rows shape the extended sleeve and shoulders, and the back and front are joined using a three-needle cast-off. The back piece has shallow neck shaping and the front piece a standard crew neck shape. The armhole bands and neckband stitches are picked up and worked in the round in twisted rib.
It can be worn as a separate piece or layered over a long-sleeved top or shirt.
Triplet requires average to intermediate knitting skills.
