Train to Maine Hat
The Train to Maine hat is a slipstitch colorwork design with a lacy tracks ribbing. It is worked flat and seamed in the back in finishing. Though the ribbing band is intended to fit loosely (I’m always trying to spare my bangs!), if you prefer a tighter band, a simple modification is included in the pattern. Stitch patterns are both written and charted.
Finished Measurements
Ribbing: 18 1/4”/46.5cm
Length: 11”/29cm
The Train to Maine mini collection (hat and pullover) was:
--designed by a native Mainer (me!) with contrast yarn created by a Maine indie dyer (Heather, of Highland Handmades)
--modeled by a lovely Maine girl
--photographed by another native Mainer (whom I randomly met one snowy day as she was shooting fashion on a rarely traveled lake road)
--and named for the journey that brought me, full circle, back home
Yarn info
Photographed in Milla Mia Naturally Soft Merino with Highland Handmades Sugar Maple Sock
The sample knit used approximately 200 yd/183 m of the merino (MC) and 125 yd/114.5 m of the sock yarn (CC)--a great stashbuster for your partial skeins of sock yarn!
Thank you to Wendy (pennywenny) for her terrific tech-editing on this pattern.
