Tradition
Just to be swept away… A lacy poncho using the traditional old shale pattern repeat, finished off with a warming loose collar. Worked in the round, following a very simple and smooth pattern repeat. I suggest threading ‘lifelines’ every 10 rounds just in case you make a mistake. These markers will give you a base to pull back to if you drop a stitch or lose your way. The collar and border can be accented in a different yarn type and colour if desired.
YOU WILL NEED
3 x 100g WARM MOONSHINE (400m/100g, 70% alpaca, 20% silk, 10% cashmere); 2 x undyed and 1 x natural grey or contrast yarn
5mm circular needle (60cm) for main body, 3.5mm circular needle (40cm) for collar, Sewing-up needle
FINISHED SIZE: from collar to hem 70cm, width 155cm (at widest point)
GAUGE: 18sts and 20rows to 10cm over stocking st on 5mm needles
If you want your poncho to be the size stated above, please check gauge. Go up or down a needle size to obtain stated gauge.
