You should know how to crochet following stitches:

• ch (chain), sl st (slip stitch), sc (single crochet), hdc (half double crochet).

This pattern includes:

• very detailed step-by-step pictures with written instructions,
• charts,
• schematics,
• video-instructions.
• Instructions are given in English language, American crochet terminology.

Crochet hooks:

• F - 5 / 3.75 mm and G - 6 / 4.25 mm.

Recommended materials:

• Worsted / Medium / #4 weight yarn. Shown here Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Worsted Yarn (100% Peruvian Highland Wool, 110 yds / 50 g), 2 skeins in Calypso Heather color for all sizes and 2 skeins in Camel Heather color for all adult sizes, but 1 skein for sizes 3-4 and 5+. Also less “itchy” yarn is recommended: Knit Picks Swish Worsted yarn, Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Superwash.
• Tapestry needle, 4 stitch markers.

Sizes:

• Hat: 51 (53, 56, 58) cm / 20 1/8 (20 7/8, 22, 22 7/8)’’ head circumference / 2-3 years (3-5 years, 5+ years/Woman, Man). Height 18 (19.5, 21, 22) cm / 7 1/8 (7 ¾, 8 ¼, 8 5/8)’’. Actual circumference of the hat is about 3 cm /1 ¼’’ less (due negative ease). Later in the pattern sizes 51 (53, 56, 58) by head circumference in cm.
• Mittens: 3-4 years (7-8 years, XS/S, M, L/XL, 2X, 3X) / 13 (15, 17, 19, 21

Gauge:

• (UK: tension): 19 sts x 20 rows = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4’’ over linen stitch made with G-6 / 4.25 mm crochet hook.
