Stiallach Shawl
Please check this Shuttermonkey Designs Discussion Thread to find out the latest discounts and/or promotions currently running on my designs.
This is a triangular shaped shawl, worked in one piece, from the top down. Casting on requires using the garter tab cast on method, for which I have provided a tutorial link.
Instructions for the body of this shawl are provided in written format only. However, the instructions for the lace edging are provided in both written and charted format. The chart is easy to read and ideal for knitters who haven’t followed a chart before.
NB: The two yarn colours used in this shawl are alternated using the intarsia method (tutorial link provided). You will have three colours being used while knitting the main body of this shawl: one cream and two blue (the 2nd blue is for the blue edging along the left hand side).
This shawl is perfect for beginners to shawl knitting, but also for those new to knitting with more than one colour too.
I’m also hoping to help knitters understand how triangular shawls develop with this very simple yet elegant shawl pattern
.
The design for this shawl was inspired by my Fankle, Old Shale and Skoosh! shawls. After completing these three designs, I wanted to create a fourth shawl that would include a little colour work. The thought of knitting with more than one colour can be slightly daunting to most new knitters, but this is a straightforward striped pattern and is very easy to follow: the main body is worked in stocking stitch, changing the yarn colour after every second row. The shawl is then finished off with a little lace border.
