The mitts are designed for confident beginners, using mostly double crochet stitches (US single crochet) and simple spike stitches. The upper and lower cuff sections use a simple rib pattern, but the thumbs are left plain.”

Each mitt is made to fit an average man’s hand circumference of 21cm (8 1⁄4in) (excluding thumb), and 25cm (10in) hand circumference (including thumb).
Each finished mitt measures approx 15cm (6in) long, 21.5cm (8 1⁄2in) hand circumference (excluding thumb) and 28.5cm (11 1⁄4in) hand circumference (including thumb).

You will need a DK yarn with a fair amount of stretch, in cream, purple and brown. We used Rico Baby Classic DK (50% acrylic, 50% polyamide, 50g/165m), 1 ball of each: cream (020), purple (016) and brown (037).
The yarn used works as DK to the following tension: 16 double crochet (US single crochet) sts and 13 rows to 10cm (4in) square.
For this pair of mitts, we used approx 10g of purple yarn, 5g of brown yarn and 30g of cream yarn. Note that if your tension is looser then you may need more yarn.

You will also need a 4mm (US G-6) hook and two stitch markers.
