This pattern is part of the eBook “Berlin - wrapped in Red”, the result of a collaboration between Steffi Palm & Marion Bulin, owners of Yarn over Berlin, and their fabulous and creative friends. The eBook is part of the Malabrigo Freelance pattern project and features several Malabrigo yarns used for eleven red patterns named after Berlin´s districts, rivers or sights.

Spandau is a district in the far west of Berlin. You might have heard of it because of the band Spandau Ballet, which was famous in the Eighties and named itself after this district. The Spandau Ballet was my favorite band then and I still love listening to their music. My cowl has a really girlish pink ballet color and can be easily adjusted to make it wider. It would look great in a typical Spandau Ballet color, GOLD!

Size can easily be adjusted in height and circumference – 1 pattern repeat (every 24 stitches) adds about 9 cm/ 3.5 inches to the circumference – and will add about 5 cm/2 inches to the height
