The South Island of New Zealand has some of the coldest weather in the country, so I thought a scarf would be an appropriate accessory to take it’s name. Although the weather can be severe, the colours are often beautiful and I chose my yarns to recall the wonderful colours of the lupins that spring up late in the year.
This scarf is an excellent pattern for using up partial balls of yarn leftover from other projects. (Try and use yarns that are the same base for a cohesive finished object. I used a merino silk base for all 3 yarns).
This pattern is part of The New Zealand Collection which is available as an ebook comprising 20 patterns (some for women, some for men and some for children).
