The Solstice Cowl includes a simple yet striking cable pattern that adds texture and rhythm to your knitting, encouraging you to slow down and knit with intention. The project works up quickly in DK yarn, making it a deeply satisfying knit.

This design gently echoes the balance of light at the Solstice. You’ll knit approximately two-thirds in one colour and one-third in a contrast – a nod to the changing proportions of night and day on the Winter and Summer Solstices.

For Winter Solstice, choose a deeper shade as your main colour, balanced by a paler contrast.

For Summer Solstice, let a lighter main colour take the lead, with a darker contrast adding grounding and definition.

The samples were knit using Temporal Spin DK (Merino / Nylon / Stellina Sparkle)
Dark = Dragon Scale
Light = Stargate
