The stitch pattern is adjustable: different sizes have different width of the pattern repeat but visually the impression is the same.
Needles: I recommend several pairs of circular needles in order to be able to try on. For the sleeves, use circular needles about 40 cm or DPNs, if you prefer.
Gauge (slightly stretched): S 10 sts x 10 rows in the pattern = 6 cm x 5 cm; M 12 sts x 10 rows = 7 cm x 5 cm; L 14 sts x 10 rows = 7 cm x 5 cm; XL 16 sts x 10 rows = 10 cm x 5 cm.
As this cardigan is open in the front and assumes some positive ease, it is not critical if your gauge is slightly off.
