Shell Shawl
The shawl is knitted with stranded knitting with 2 colors and steeked. You start the knitting on double pointed needles and as you increase stitches shift to circular needles fitting the size of the shawl. The edges along the sides of the shawl are knitted after the steeking.
Altogether is used 625 g Kauni yarn
250 g AA (solid white)
300 EZ (blue and green colors)
75 g EQ (choose the yellow and orange colors for the starfishes and yellow / green for the woolen beads)
Double pointed needles size 3½ mm
Circular needle 3½ mm
((Start with 40 cm and end up with 120 or 150 cm)
Circular needle 3 mm for the edge and a needle 2½ mm for the outermost edge.
Of course you can use other types of yarn for the knitting. A similar multi colored yarn could be Evilla Artyarn or if you want to knit with a solid colored yarn 2ply Shetland wool would be suitable choice.
After all the type of yarn does not mean much for this kind of knitting, just don’t make the knitting too solid, then the shawl will not be soft and fall beautifully.
.
Size for the finished shawl:
Upper edge 220 cm, height 125 cm.
