Schonung – “Young forest plantations”

When men try to make the most out of a wood they plant the pine trees in big areas where they grow all together and can be harvested easily. As long as the trees are small the area is light and fresh. But once the trees became tall and grew together the lightness is gone and a dark feeling overcomes me when I walk among these trees. The daylight is gone, you walk on a carpet of dried pine needles and soon you feel like Hänsel and Gretel on their way to find the witch’s house.

This cardigan is knitted bottom up in pieces and sewn together after a blocking. The cardigan’s back is showing a large pine tree motive, guided by some simple cables. Each front has a small pocket for you to put in your treasures from the next walk in the woods. Pine trees “grow” in one stripe on every front.

The light merino yarn makes this cardigan a perfect companion through your walks and days.
