The inspiration for this scarf came from growing up in a Scandinavian/American household where the heart was used as a Christmas motif. I also remember this pattern from an ancient book of dish cloths. I thought it would work up wonderfully as a scarf.

The scarf is also perfect for St. Valentine’s Day, or just when ever you want to feel the love.

The scarf, which has both a charted and written pattern, features a running hearts pattern up the center framed by eyelet along both sides with a garter stitch edge. It can be worn plain, or have a contrasting color woven through the eyelets.

This pattern is a charted lace pattern. Though I did it in Cloud 9, I have also done samples in Lambs Pride Worsted, and I liked the sheen.

I did not include quantities needed for embellishment. I calculated under 12 yards were needed to run a double strand along both edges and outline one heart.

I knit it on US 9 needles, though my gauge is loose. you may find you would prefer the look and feel if you knit it using US 8 needles.

I welcome comments and corrections.
