So Soft!

Rosebuds and Daffodils is a versatile scarf or cowl, designed and knit in three colors of Knit Picks Paragon™, a soft, luxurious, drapey blend of Fine Merino Wool (50%), Baby Alpaca (25%), and Mulberry Silk (25%).

Construction: As shown, the design features five alternating color blocks, each comprising 23 pattern repeats. The finished piece measures 8” wide by 72” long. The number of pattern repeats in each block can easily be modified for a shorter or longer finished piece.

If desired, one color block can be eliminated (or one more block added) and the ends sewn together for a continuous loop scarf or cowl that will maintain the alternating color blocks.

Gauge: The gauge for Rosebuds and Daffodils is approximately 17 stitches to 3”, in the pattern stitch. Although gauge is not critical for this pattern, the fabric should not be knit too loosely.

Pattern stitch: The six-row pattern repeat is garter-stitch based, with five knit rows and one row featuring yarn-over stitches to create the openwork effect – no purling required! The pattern stitch is worked over any odd number of stitches making it easy to modify the width of the finished piece. Both sides of the fabric are attractive, although not identical.

Yarn requirements: As shown, Rosebuds and Daffodils required 4 balls of Color A (Ash), 2 balls of Color B (Pimento), and 1 ball of Color C (Tumeric). There will be yarn left over in Colors A and B. If a shorter scarf is desired, probably only 3 balls of Color A and 1 ball of Color B will be needed.

Finishing: Rosebuds and Daffodils will likely need a light blocking to eliminate any bias created by the openwork stitch.
