INSPIRATION
The undulating waves of this scarf remind us that we’re part of a larger flow – each of us a single wave in an endless ocean. Playful color blocks and super bulky yarn bring structure to the flow, anchoring the watery design on solid ground. As you make this scarf, breathe life into it by intentionally knitting each stitch. Watch the waves come to life and pour yourself into the piece. Allow your creation to provide a gentle opportunity to release any stuck emotions you’ve been holding onto. Give them back to nature. DETAILS
This super bulky scarf is knitted flat using a simple Crest of the Wave lace pattern and adorned with ample fringe. Knit it in four colors as designed, or opt for a two or single color version. Fringe or no fringe, it’s up to you! Regardless, you’ll end up with a large, cozy scarf that wraps around a couple of times.

MEASUREMENTS & GAUGE
The simplicity of the lace pattern makes it easy for you to modify the width (by casting on multiples of 12 + 1 sts) and length (by adding or removing pattern repeats ). You could also choose to knit this in a different gauge, which would change the dimensions.

MATERIALS

Yarn
You’ll need super bulky yarn in four colors. The scarf weighs ~543g before fringe. Yarn estimates are in weights BEFORE FRINGE. The optional fringes require an additional ~25 yards total.

Color 1: 171g (~103 yards) before fringe
Color 2: 127g (~77 yards) before fringe
Color 3: 152g (~92 yards) before fringe
Color 4: 93g (~56 yards) before fringe

Needles
US 17 / 12mm (recommend a 24” circular)

I used a larger needle to open up the lace pattern and garter ridges. I also recommend using a 24” circular needle even though you will be working flat.

If you choose to work with a different yarn, adjust your needle size to suit.

Darning needle, crochet hook for fringes

Recommended Yarn
Four colors of Malabrigo Rasta
(90 yards / 82 meters = 150 grams)

Colors used in the sample:
Color 1: Olive 2 skeins (~103 yards used before fringe)
Color 2: Piedras 2 skeins (~77 yards before fringe) – I used Piedras for most of the fringe
Color 3: Fog 2 skeins (~92 yards used before fringe)
Color 4: Pearl Ten 1 skein (~56 yards before fringe)

You’ll have some of each color leftover, which is perfect for a coordinating hat!
