I’m happy to see menswear inspired clothing in fashion again (although, is it ever really out?) I designed this neat little vest for the whole family in 25 different sizes! It is intended to be worn with 1-4 inches of positive ease. (See below for finished chest measurements.) #sizeinclusive

The yoke is knit sideways, and then the body is knit top down making it easy to adjust the length to your liking. The design also lends itself well to colour blocking; the yoke and body could be made in different colours, and the garter trims including the garter strip across the chest could be yet another colour. The options are endless!

Techniques used in this design include: provisional cast on, picking up sts, knitting flat and in the round, and making basic increases and decreases. Short rows are used only in Women’s sizes 2X to 6X.

The men’s and women’s have somewhat different proportions. Based on a similar chest circumference, the women’s design relative to the men’s has: a slightly wider and lower V; narrower shoulders; less armhole depth; less body length. The women’s also includes a split hem detail.

I knit the sample in Prado de Lana Romney worsted, but you can use any worsted or aran weight yarn that knits to the pattern gauge.
