A shawlette version of the Pier shawl design has been added to the pattern file. When you download Pier pattern you will get two separate files, one for the original shawl and the other one for a shawlette version. If you have bought this pattern previously, an automated update with both shawl versions will be send to you.
Pier is a unisex shawl knitted sideways seamlessly in a simple garter stitch. This design takes advantage of the difference in stripes position to one another in the border and the body of the shawl. This shawl is a great beginner project and a nice relaxing project for the experienced knitters. There are just a few short rows and absolutely no stitches to be picked up for the border. The body and the border are knitted at once. Choose your favorite colors and have fun knitting Pier.
Finished Size
The sample shawl in the photographs after blocking was 204cm (80 inches) for the straight edge on the top of the shawl and 67cm (27 inches) for the height of the shawl at the center. You can easily make it bigger or smaller.
The sample shawlette in the photographs after blocking was 212cm (83 inches) for the straight edge on the top of the shawl and 40cm (16 inches) for the height of the shawl at the center. You can easily make it bigger or smaller.

The gauge is not critical in knitting this shawl. Adjust your needle size to suit your yarn and achieve the size and the look of the scarf of your choice.
