I was walking along the beach with my kids and I spotted a pea-green boat. It immediately made me think of the poem about the Owl and The Pussy Cat. I thought it would make a really cute baby hat.

Materials
Needles
3mm / US 2.5 at least 100cm / 40” long or size to obtain gauge (for magic loop)
or 3mm / US 2.5 cable 40cm / 16” with dpns for crown decrease.
or DPNs in the correct size if you prefer.

Yarn
Any sock weight yarn 100g; 320m / 350yds
Sample knitted in: Nurturing Fibres Supertwist Sock Yarn 100% Merino 100g; 320m / 350yrds

Yarn Substitution: Any yarn of a similar yardage per 100g would work well. However, yarn with plant-based fibers, silk or other drapey yarn might not hold the cable pattern shape very well and would not be a good substitute. You need a yarn which produces clear stitch definition. Most acrylic yarn should of similar yardage per 100g should work fine.

0-3 months: 90m / 83 yds (25g)
3-6 months: 108m / 99 yds (30g)
6-12 months: 126m / 115yds (35g)
1-2 years: 144m / 132yds (40g)

You will also need about 20m /22yds of a contrasting colour for the cat
