The Oregon Trail is a historic east-west wagon route in the United States, which led through steppes, deserts and across rivers and mountains and connected the Missouri River to the valleys of Oregon. It took bends and curves to avoid any barriers and to make it accessible for large-wheeled wagons. The stitch pattern used for these socks, resembles the difficult trail: with small stripes of ribbing seemingly meandering between knit valleys and purl mountains.

The socks are knitted cuff down. Heel flap and gusset are integrated into the leg and are knitted in the round. The pattern includes four sizes: XS, S, M and L to fit leg circumference 17 (18.75, 20.5, 22.5) cm 6.75 (7.5, 8, 9)“. Leg length including heel is 20 (21, 21, 20) cm 8 (8.25, 8.25, 9)“ when knit as given in the pattern. The foot length is adjustable.

You can choose to work the textured pattern either from the charts or the written instructions.
