One-Piece Infant Mermaid Bunting
A knitting pattern for a seamless, one-piece mermaid bunting, suitable for babies weighing up to 15 pounds. Instructìons are also given for adapting the pattern for a doll, as shown in the last photo.
- Worked from the bottom of the piece to the top
- Numerous slipped stitches make this a fairly quick…but totally impressive project!
- Reversible tail is full of texture and adds even more interest
- Very detailed photo-tutorial instructions throughout
Although I’ve worked the entire piece using double-pointed needles (#8), some knitters will want to work the narrower bottom using double-pointed needles and circulars for the wider body portion.
The dark pink sample shown in the feature photo is worked in Caron Simply Soft Party in the color “Fuchsia Sparkle”, a deep yet vibrant magenta color with magenta sparkle, not white as it tends to appear in photos.
The teal sample in the fifth photo is worked using Knit Picks’ Preciosa Tonal, a lovely single-ply wool - it’s super soft and has tonal variations that are absolutely beautiful!
There is no hand stitching or seaming with this pattern - once you bind off at the top….you’re done!
