Octavia -- Anglesey Redan Shawl
OCTAVIA is a breathtaking design that’s straightforward to knit but oh-so-dramatic to wear! Its clean lines and elegant geometry make it a natural that can be dressed up or down, and it showcases a knitter’s yarn choices brilliantly by placing the simplest of stitches within a classic silhouette.
Modular construction means that the project is completed in thirds, each of which may be worn (as a shawlette) while the others are still on the needles. This deep-V three-yarn shawl is made up of three pieces seamed together; two of the three are identically and asymmetrically constructed, with one reversed in assembly, while the third piece is symmetrical.
The designer’s yarn choices for the creation of OCTAVIA were YarnZone.com Flash (ladder) yarn in #40 bright green (solid), SWTC Bamboo yarn in #406 Midori, and YarnZone.com Amuse yarn in #801 silver with clear sequins. Just one skein of each is required.
Flash is nylon-polyester ladder yarn available in a 50g skein of approximately 164 yds; gauge in patt (knit as directed) is 7.3 sts/in and 5.5 rows/in. Bamboo is just that: 100% bamboo fiber available in a 100g skein of about 250 yds; gauge in patt (knit as directed) is 3.3 sts/in and 6.8 rows/in. Amuse is sequined polyester yarn, threaded with sparkle for a radiant aura, available in a 50g skein of about 360 yds; gauge in patt (knit as directed) is 5.1 sts/in and 5.5 rows/in.
