Not Tonight, Josephine
Not Tonight, Josephine is a delicate, lacy shawl designed for maximum wearability. The crescent shape hugs your shoulders, and the 72” wingspan is large enough to tie or double-wrap.
The shawl calls for two balls of yarn dyed in the same color but with drastically different fiber content. The top half is made of Darlin’, a 50/50 blend of wool and cotton with a matte texture. (Using a cotton blend for the part of the shawl that sits on your shoulders also allows for year-round wear in the warm Texas climate where I live.) The bottom half is made of Phillie, a blend of merino, cashmere, and silk, creating a contrasting ultra-shiny look.
The instructions are given in CHARTS ONLY. You can easily substitute 875 yards of any fingering or lace weight yarn. Pattern calls for about 60 beads, adding just a hint of sparkle. With extra yardage, the bottom lace section could be repeated infinitely to obtain an even larger size.
(And in case you were wondering: Yes, it was inspired by and named after the Tori Amos song of the same name.)
