No Purls Scarf
Reversible and No Purl stitches!
This is a great first project if you’re learning to knit Continental - there are NO PURL stitches and yet you get the effect of a ribbed design. The ridges and valleys give the impression of plowed fields in the spring. These pictures remind me of a newly plowed field after a dusting of snow. I used to call this my Springtime Fields Scarf.
It looks the same on both sides so there’s no worry of whether you have it on the ‘right’ way.
Any soft worsted weight yarn that feels good on your neck will work. I’ve used Caron’s Simply Soft, Redheart Soft, 100% alpaca as well as washable wools and love them all!
Use size 10US (6mm) needles and about 350 yards of worsted weight yarn for a 60” scarf.
Instructions are included for knitting one with Sport weight yarn too! (size 6 needles & 400 yards)
Gauge isn’t critical at all since this is a scarf but for a nice drape, you don’t want to knit too tightly!
The brown scarf pictured was knitted with two hanks of Cascade EcoDuo (undyed alpaca) in Pecan. The red one was made from Regia Alaska Color on size 6 needles.
