Mummola shawlette is knitted bottom up. You cast on a large number of stitches and then decrease little by little until you have only four stitches to graft together. So there is no bindoff!

The hem of Mummola features a double picot border and the main body is mainly mindless garter stitch. The decreases form a romantic ruffle in the hem of the shawlette. Three rows of double yarnovers give the shawlette a rhythm – a slow rhythm of Mummola which in Finnish means your grandmother’s house.

Mummola is knitted in Linnea light, a light fingering blend of wool and linen, delicately handdyed by Kässäkerho Pom Pom. You can use thicker or thinner yarns too, but this will affect the size of your Mummola shawlette. You are invited to make it your own!

Materials
Yarn: Pom Pom Linnea light, 70% ecological wool, 30% linen, (466 m=100g), 1 skein in colourway Kupari.
400 m was used for the sample.

Needles: US #2,5/3,0mm, circular needle of 120 cm.
Notions: Tapestry needle, stitch markers.

Gauge: 24 sts and 30 rows = 4 inches / 10 cm in garter st with #2,5/3,0mm needles, blocked. Please make a swatch and select a suitable needle size to get the right gauge. You can knit the shawl with a tighter or looser gauge or use another yarn and get a bigger or smaller shawl.

Size: 12 x 37.5/82.5 inches / 30 x 95/210 cm.

Mummola-huivi aloitetaan alareunasta ja neulotaan kohti keskustaa. Aluksi luodaan suuri määrä silmukoita, jotka kavennetaan vähitellen. Lopuksi jäljellä on vain neljä silmukkaa, jotka silmukoidaan yhteen. Pääteltävää ei siis jää!

Mummola-huivin helmassa on kaksinkertainen nirkkoreunapäärme. Suurin osa huivista on rentouttavaa ainaoikein-neuletta. Kavennusten ansiosta huivin reuna poimuttuu romanttisesti. Huivia rytmittää kolme kaksoislangankiertojen muodostamaa raitaa. Raitojen hidas rytmi muistuttaa mummolan rytmiä.

Mummolan lankana on Linnea light, ohutta villaa ja pellavaa, ihanissa Kässäkerho Pom Pomin käsinvärjätyissä sävyissä. Voit käyttää huiviin ohuempia tai paksumpia lankoja, jolloin huivista tulee vastaavasti pienempi tai suurempi. Kokeile, millainen on sinun Mummola-huivisi!

Tiheys: 24 s ja 30 krs = 10 cm ainaoikein-neuletta 3,0 mm puikoilla, kasteltuna ja pingotettuna. Neulo mallitilkku ja valitse sitten työhön puikot, joilla saat oikean tiheyden. Voit neuloa huivin tiukemmin tai löyhemmin tai käyttää eri lankaa, jolloin siitä tulee erikokoinen kuin ohjeessa.
