A pattern to show off the beauty of variegated yarn - the changes in knitting direction create stripes that change directions too. A quick and easy knit for small amounts of leftover yarn.

Sizes
S, M and L to fit head circumference of approximately 46 (51, 56) cm 18 (20, 22)”. Please note that thanks to the garter stitch sections, the hadband stretches easily to bigger circumferences.

Material
Approximately 120-135 m (130-150 yards) of fingering weight yarn with a yardage of approximately 366 m (400 yds) per 100 g
2.25 mm / US size 1 straight or circular needle(s), for your preferred way to knit flat in rows
Darning needle

The pattern is written for the Provisional Crochet Cast On which requires additionally: waste yarn and a crochet hook one or two sizes larger than the knitting needles. The cast on method can be replaced with any provisional cast on method.

This pattern was a bonus pattern to go with the Multidirectional Mittens, the Blue Moon Fiber Arts Rockin’ Sock Club members pattern in November 2014.
