ENGLISH

Morpho is the perfect comfort, half mohair half merinos, so fluffy ! This shawl is based on stripes of the same color but with different fibers. If you don’t like or can’t wear mohair, you can replace it by a lovely lace thread or a single light fingering, it will do the job as well and bring the transparency look.
Its shape is specific. Half triangular half half-circle. It is worked from one end to the other only with (a lot of) short rows. ,

Material

• Thread : 550 m of mohair (here 35% mohair, 15% wool, 50% acrylic, 275m/50g), or 600 m of lace, and 400 m of merinos (here 100% merinos SW). Both threads color is “Lumière céleste” from Fil du Bon’R.

• Circular needles 4,5 mm.

Gauge

Gauge is not essential, but for information : 16 st x 6 stripes according to pattern (3 mohair, 3 merinos, in other words 30 rows) = 10 cm width and height.

• Each technique used in this pattern has a video link. Those videos are in French, but easily understandable just by watching.

• A picture of the shawl blocking with instructions is included + schematic.

FRANCAIS

Morpho est un châle doudou, mi mohair mi mérinos, moelleux comme tout ! Basé sur un jeu de rayures à la fois de jersey endroit/envers et de matières d’une même couleur pour deux fibres différentes. Si vous n’aimez pas la fibre mohair, vous pouvez remplacer par un fil light fingering voire lace pour obtenir ce joli effet de transparence.
Sa forme est assez particulière puisqu’il a pour moitié la forme d’un triangle et d’un demi-cercle. Il se tricote d’une pointe à l’autre uniquement à l’aide de (très) nombreux rangs raccourcis.

Matériel :

• Fil : 550 m de fil mohair (ici 35% mohair, 15% laine, 50% acrylique, 275m/50g), ou 600 m de fil lace, et 400 m de mérinos (ici 100% mérinos SW). Les deux fils sont de la couleur “Lumière céleste” de Fil du Bon’R.

• Aiguilles circulaires 4,5 mm.

Echantillon

L’échantillon n’est pas primordial pour ce projet, mais à titre indicatif : 16 m x 6 rayures selon le point (3 mohair, 3 mérinos, soit 30 rgs) = 10 cm de hauteur et largeur.
