Montecito
Montecito is now available!
Montecito is a crescent-shaped shawl with a heavily beaded lace border.
The body of the shawl is knitted using a “wrapped purl” pattern stitch which could be substituted with stockinette or garter stitch to achieve a very different effect.
To make Montecito less glamorous, the beads could be omitted in the border and/or picot edge.
The border is patterned on both sides and knitted sideways, stitches are later picked up along the edge; the body is shaped using short rows without wraps.
The size of shawl can be adjusted easily by knitting additional repeats for the edge. To adjust the pattern for the main body when adding repeats to the edge, apply the following formula:
X = number of stitches picked up along the edge after finishing the border chart divided by 2.
(X + 36) - 3 = P (# of stitches to be purled on Row 2 of the main body.
Montecito can also be knitted in a DK weight yarn creating a lovely piece for cooler weather or fingering for summer nights.
Montecito is feminine, elegant and perfect for that special occasion.
The pattern has been created for knitters of intermediate and advanced skill levels
