Monarch Butterfly
The Monarch Butterfly is worked on size 1-2 knitting needles in medium weight wool yarn, 8 yards orange, 2 yards Dark Orange, 2 yards of white, 8 yards of 2 ply Black, and 2 yards of single ply black yarn. This butterfly is worked on size 1-2 knitting needles. The monarch is worked in stockinette stitch, and I-cord stitch, using intarsia technique for color changes. Chain stitching and simple embroidery techniques are used to complete the wing designs. Two strands from a 12 inch piece of embroidery floss are used to make the butterfly antennae. A 4 mm crochet hook is used to chain stitch the antennae, and a size 16 tapestry needle is used to embroider spots and lines on the wings, and to sew the butterfly together
