The pattern is the Icelandic word móðir (e. mother) in bindrunes, made from the runic alphabet used in Iceland until the 14th century.

Main color: 1 skein*
Contrast color: 1 skein
* NB! When test knitting the hat there were only about 6 grams left of the main color so those who knit loosely should have a little extra. There is nothing worse than running out of yarn with just a few rows left.

3.5 mm (US 4) circular needle, 40 cm / 16”
4.5 mm (US 7) circular needle, 40 cm / 16”

Pom-pom is totally optional; homemade from yarn or store-bought - whatever you fancy.

Gauge
18 sts and 24 rows = 10 x 10 cm / 4” x 4” on 4.5 mm (US 7) needles.
