This might be the smallest octopus you’ll ever see…made out of thread. His eight tentacles always seem to be in motion. You’ll love how light-weight these earrings are as they dangle from your ears. They’re the perfect accessory to hang out at the beach, lounge poolside, or gallivant wherever your summer vacation takes you!

Not in the mood for earrings? No worries! You can make this octopus with any weight thread or yarn. My children love to play with their Minimus Octopi!

Materials Needed:
• US Size 1.50mm crochet hook
• 2 headpins
• 2 beads (any size or shape, larger than seed bead, small enough to fit inside octopus head)
• Small scrap of thread in contrasting color or two seed beads for Octopus eyes (optional)
• 2 fish hook ear-wires
• Small amount of yarn scraps to stuff earrings (or Poly-fil)
• Round nose pliers
• Flat nose pliers
• Wire cutters
• Needle to weave in ends

Pattern Notes:
• All directions are written in American Crochet Terms.
• Gauge is not essential for this project; however, stitches should be tight.
• Any size thread or yarn and the appropriate hook can be used on this pattern. If not making earrings or pendant, there is no need to insert a headpin and bead after round 11.
• All small children should be supervised whenever playing with crocheted toys. Never use beads for eyes if the octopus is for a small child.
